Maintenance of Certification
Share |

This information pertains only to certificates that expire in 2018.

In 2013, the International Examination and Certification Board (IECB) began to operate autonomously from the COVD Board of Directors. At that time, maintenance of certification (MOC) was instituted for FCOVDs, FCOVD-As and COVTs.

Those that certified on or before October of 2013 received a letter and a new certificate at the end of 2013, indicating their new board certification expiration date of December 31, 2018.

What does this mean?

If your certificate is expiring in 2018, you must submit for your MOC this year to continue your active status as a certified constituent of COVD.

Important points

Maintenance of Certification Fees Table

Membership with COVD is NOT required to maintain your certification. However, there is a non-member fee for those that wish to maintain certification without COVD membership.

Members may maintain their certification at no cost if material is submitted PRIOR to 10/31/2018. After this date there is a $75.00 MOC processing fee that must accompany your submission or be paid online.

Choosing not to maintain certification

If you chose NOT to maintain your certification, your certification will officially expire and you will be unable to continue to use the professional designation of FCOVD, FCOVD-A or COVT and will not receive a new certificate.

  • After a period of inactive certification, the only way to reinstate your credential is to reapply and successfully complete the certification process in full.

If you have fully retired and are not actively seeing patients or licensed, you are not required to maintain certification. We do ask that the COVD office has your current status on file. Please email or contact the COVD office if your status has changed to fully retired.

We look forward to your continued professional development and dedication to the field of vision therapy, development, and rehabilitation.
