Maintenance of Certification
Share |

In 2013, the International Examination and Certification Board (IECB) began to operate autonomously from the COVD Board of Directors. At that time, maintenance of certification (MOC) was instituted for FCOVDs, FCOVD-As and COVTs.

Letter from IECB Chair Dr. Kristi Jensen

What does this mean?

Certifications from COVD expire, as denoted by the date on your certificate or in your COVD member profile. You must submit for your MOC to continue your active status as a certified constituent of COVD by 12/31 of the expiration year.

 Maintenance of Certification Fees Table

Membership with COVD is NOT required to maintain your certification. However, there is a non-member fee for those that wish to maintain certification without COVD membership.

Members may maintain their certification at no cost if material is submitted PRIOR to 10/31 of the year of expiration. After this date, there is a $75.00 MOC processing fee that must accompany your submission or be paid online. After six months, that fee increases to $150.00.

Choosing not to maintain certification

If you chose NOT to maintain your certification, your certification will officially expire and you will be unable to continue to use the professional designation of FCOVD, FCOVD-A or COVT and will not receive a new certificate.

If you have fully retired and are not actively seeing patients or licensed, you are not required to maintain certification. We do ask that the COVD office has your current status on file. Please email info@covd.org or contact the COVD office if your status has changed to fully retired.
