A.M. Skeffington Award
The A.M. Skeffington Award is presented to the COVD Fellow who has made outstanding contributions to the optometric literature in the areas of vision therapy and vision development.
G.N. Getman Award
The G.N. Getman Award is presented to a developmentally-oriented optometrist with clinical expertise and application in office structure and professional activity.
COVT of the Year Award
This award is given to the COVT who has shown dedication to behavioral optometry and has demonstrated understanding and support for patients and their families.
The President’s Award is given to the member(s) who has made an outstanding contribution to COVD.
Award for Best Article
The Best Article Award is presented to the author(s) whose original paper has been judged the best one published in the COVD journal the previous year.
Making VT Visible
This award is for outstanding contributions to public awareness of vision therapy and developmental vision care.
Special Awards for Dedicated Service
These special awards are given to COVD members who have provided exceptional service to the COVD Board of Directors and Committees
Student Excellence in Vision Therapy Award
The Excellence in Vision Therapy Awards are provided to strengthen the future of developmental and behavioral optometry and vision therapy. This program is designed to recognize a COVD Student Member who is a graduating optometry student and who has demonstrated a strong interest and clinical skills in the area of vision therapy.
COVD Research Grant - Application period is March through May
COVD Research Grants are given to optometrists, optometric educators, and other vision scientists. These grants are designed to support research related to oculomotor, binocular vision, visual information processing, and learning-related vision problems and vision therapy.
BSK-COVD Research Grant - Application period is July through August.
The Beta Sigma Kappa (BSK) – COVD Research Grant supports optometric and vision science faculty research and optometric resident research. All optometric related faculty and optometry residents at an accredited school or college of optometry are eligible to apply for a BSK-COVD Research Grant.
Annual Meeting Travel Grants - Application period is November through December
Annual Meeting travel grants aid student and resident members attending the COVD Annual Meeting.
Kaplan Speakers Bureau
A generous donation by the Kaplan Estate has made it possible to fund an additional speaker at each of the schools in the US, in addition to the Tour de Optometry program.
